Meta expected to launch ads on Threads next year
Meta Platforms Inc. is said to be planning to introduce advertisements on its growing social media platform, Threads, in early 2025, The Information reported on Wednesday.
By the end of the third quarter, the tech giant's micro-blogging platform had 275 million registered monthly users, CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously disclosed, with the figure surging 175% from a year ago. In the reported period, advertisements accounted for 98.3% of Meta's total revenue.
During an earnings call, Chief Financial Officer Susan Li mentioned that Threads is not expected to be a "significant driver" of next year's revenue, but emphasized that the company is "pleased" with the app's "growth trajectory."
