Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on Friday that regulates the circulation of digital currency in his country. The law will come into force on November 1.

According to this law, the Russian government will have the power to forbid digital currency mining in some regions and their territories and to establish how those restrictions will be introduced. It will also have the right to prohibit participation in a mining pool. The activities of the operators who provide mining infrastructure will also be regulated by the Russian government.

The law that Putin signed also transferred control over the maintenance of the miners' register from the Ministry of Digital Development to the Federal Tax Service, which will have the power to exclude companies from the register if they repeat violations within one year. The operators will only have the right to provide infrastructure for mining to organizations in the register.
