Manchester United announced on Monday that it dismissed first-team manager Erik ten Hag after a disappointing start of the season. United is only 14th out of 20 Premier League teams, with just three wins in the nine games played. The club said veteran Ruud van Nistelrooy will become interim head coach until a new manager is appointed.

Ten Hag joined United in 2022 from Ajax. He led the team to EFL Cup and FA Cup wins in 2023 and 2024 respectively. However, United struggled on the international scene, dropping out of the Champions League in the group stage last season.
