EU slams Georgia's membership delay, backs protesters
European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and Commissioner Marta Kos condemned on Sunday Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's decision to halt EU accession talks.
In a joint statement, both EU representatives criticized Georgia's democratic backsliding and alleged electoral irregularities, warning that the government's actions undermine EU-Georgia relations.
"The EU stands with the Georgian people and their choice for a European future. The door to the EU remains open and the return of Georgia to the European values and the EU accession path is in the hands of the Georgian leadership," the statement said.
