6.2-magnitude earthquake shakes Papua New Guinea

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 shook New Ireland Island in Papua New Guinea, 836 kilometers northeast of the country's capital, Port Moserby, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.

The quake had a depth of about 73 kilometers and occurred at 3:47 pm UTC. There has been no information of casualties or damage to buildings. No tsunami warning was issued.
