Walmart's Q4 revenue up by 0.5% to $152.87 billion

Walmart Inc. announced on Thursday its revenue in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2022 saw annual growth of 0.5% to reach $152.86 billion, exceeding expectations. The company's operating income went up by 7.3% in comparison to the same trimester the year before to stand at $5.9 billion, while its net sales rose by 0.4% to hit $151.52 billion. Meanwhile, its diluted earnings per share (EPS) came in at $1.28 per share, improving from the losses per share of $0.74 recorded year-on-year.

In the entire fiscal year, Walmart's revenue observed an annual increase of 2.4% to $572.75 billion. Its net sales grew by 2.3% to $567.76 billion compared to the same quarter the previous year, while its operating income advanced by 15.1% to $25.9 billion. The firm's diluted EPS noted a yearly gain of 2.53% to come in at $4.87 per share.

"We had another strong quarter to finish off a strong year. [...] It's exciting to see how the teams are simultaneously navigating today's challenges and reshaping our business," Walmart President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Doug McMillon commented on the results.

Following the release of the report, the company's shares gained 2.83% in premarket trading.
