Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Nikolai Korchunov warned Saturday of a dramatic increase in the risk of "unintentional incidents" in the Arctic.
"Although the threat of direct conflict in the Arctic remains low, the risk of unintentional incidents has recently increased significantly due to military activity in the high latitudes by NATO member countries," the also Chairman of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Arctic Council added.
According to Korchunov, those "incidents" are carried out, especially "by non-Arctic states of the alliance, which project their military power over" that region.
