Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian criticized the White House on Wednesday regarding the latest statements from the US administration about tariff restrictions on China.

Earlier, the US announced that China now faces a new tariff of up to 245% due to its retaliatory measures. The White House also launched a national security inquiry into vital resource imports.

During today's press conference, Lin Jian stated its position on the tariff issue, adding that the US initiated the tariff war. Moreover, China has taken necessary countermeasures to safeguard its "legitimate rights and interests."
