The company owns or controls nearly 13 million acres of timberlands, primarily in the U.S., and manages additional timberlands under long-term licenses in Canada. Weyerhaeuser manages these timberlands on a sustainable basis in compliance with internationally recognized forestry standards. The company is also one of the largest manufacturers of wood products. The company is a real estate investment trust. In February 2016, Weyerhaeuser Company merged with Plum Creek Timber Company, Inc.
