One injury reported during 2nd attempt to arrest Yoon
Physical clashes have been reported between South Korean police, who are aiding investigators in their second attempt to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol, and protesters seeking to block their efforts, the BBC said, citing local media. One person is said to have been injured.
The person has been transported away for a health checkup by fire and emergency authorities. It remains unclear whether the injury was caused by a direct physical confrontation. Sky News, also citing local media, said that one person "collapsed" and there have been no other reports of injuries. Some 6,500 of Yoon's supporters gathered in front of the presidential residence, as initially estimated by police, according to Yonhap. Meanwhile, up to 3,000 police officers have been deployed.
Acting President Choi Sang-mok warned that all those who violate the law during the arrest attempt will be held accountable. "As acting president, I will hold those responsible strictly accountable if any unfortunate incident occurs," he stressed.
