The Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism released a travel risk alert on Wednesday warning Chinese citizens about visiting the United States, citing "the deterioration of China-US economic and trade relations and the domestic security situation in the US."

The ministry urged Chinese travelers to "fully assess the risks of traveling to the United States and be cautious."

Earlier in the day, China announced an increase in its tariffs on American products from 34% to 84%, responding to US President Donald Trump's implementation of new import duties on Chinese goods, which took effect today at 104%.
