Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof (pictured) pledged on Friday to support the International Criminal Court (ICC) despite US sanctions aimed at hindering its operations. As host country, Schoof emphasized the Netherlands' responsibility to guarantee the court's "unhindered functioning," calling the US measures a "disturbing signal" with potentially significant consequences for the ICC's independence.

Schoof reiterated pride in The Hague's role as a global hub for peace and justice, vowing continued support for the ICC. His remarks come as international condemnation builds, with the European Union, the United Nations, the United Kingdom, and 79 nations rejecting the US move.

The US decision, announced through an Executive Order by President Donald Trump on Thursday, imposes asset freezes and travel bans targeting ICC officials, employees, their families, and any associates linked to the court's investigations.
