Japan hit by 5.3-magnitude earthquake

A 5.3-magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of Japan, according to data provided by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

The tremor struck at a depth of about 40 kilometers and its epicenter was some 83 kilometers northwest of the Japanese city of Joetsu, home to around 204,000 people.

There were no reports of any casualties or damages.
