United States President Donald Trump's Steve Witkoff traveled to Moscow, where he is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a push to reach a ceasefire deal, a source with knowledge of the matter told Axios on Friday. If confirmed, this would be the third meeting between the two officials since Trump took office.

According to the report, Trump could go ahead with additional sanctions on Russia if a ceasefire is not secured by the end of the month.

On Thursday, US and Russian delegations met in Istanbul to discuss restoring bilateral relations, and agreed to hold a follow-up meeting "as needed," without providing additional information on the talks.
