An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 struck southeastern Malta on Wednesday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) data showed.

According to the USGS, the quake was at a shallow depth of 10.0 kilometers with an epicenter 96 kilometers south-south-west of the town of Zurrieq, which is populated by 10,962.

There are no reports of any casualties.
