At least 53 people died in US airstrikes on Yemen, with the number expected to rise, the Houthis announced.

The attacks targeted multiple locations, including the capital Sanaa.

Announcing the strikes, United States President Donald Trump said the move aimed to hit "terrorists' bases, leaders and missile defenses" to protect American ships, aircraft and naval forces while restoring freedom of navigation.
