Trump says 20% duty still applies on China electronics
United States President Donald Trump announced via TruthSocial on Sunday that "nobody is getting off the hook for the unfair Trade Balances, and Non Monetary Tariff Barriers," explaining that there was no tariff exception on Friday. He clarified that a 20% Fentanyl levy still applies on Chinese electronics.
"They are just moving to a different Tariff 'bucket.' The Fake News knows this, but refuses to report it." Furthermore, the president promised a national security investigation into semiconductors and "the whole electronics supply chain." Trump reiterated his stance that the US will not allow China and other foreign countries to "disrespect the American people" and announced a golden age for America.
Trump had previously said electronics produced in China, such as semiconductors and smartphones, would be exempt from the existing 145% levy on all Chinese imports.
