Trump said to demand a list of 'sanctuary' cities
US President Donald Trump will sign an executive order Monday targeting Democratic-led states and cities that don't fully cooperate with federal immigration authorities, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing a senior White House official.
The directive requires the Department of Justice and Homeland Security to pinpoint "sanctuary jurisdictions" within 30 days, warning of potential funding reductions and legal action if they fail to modify their existing policies and laws. A federal judge in California previously blocked the move.
Additionally, Trump will instruct the Justice Department to initiate civil rights litigation against jurisdictions deemed to prioritize undocumented immigrants over American citizens.
