United States President Donald Trump ordered on Monday that all flags over federal buildings and state banners be flown at half-mast today due to the death of Pope Francis.

"He was a good man, worked hard, he loved the world, and it's an honor to do that," Trump said during the White House Easter Egg Roll. He previously expressed his condolences over the pope's death.

Meanwhile, Argentina and Spain declared periods of mourning, while the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) recommended all sporting events in the country be postponed after the pontiff's passing.
