Talks in Oman allegedly seen as concluding today
The negotiations between the United States and Iran currently taking place in Muscat, Oman, are expected to conclude today, Iran Nuances and Tasnim reported on Saturday.
The news came shortly after it was alleged the meeting could be extended and involve direct contact between US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi if the initial indirect talks go well.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei told the press that he does not predict the summit will be "lengthy." Later, he denied the report that the US and Iran will discuss matters such as a potential prisoner swap and the possibility of Washington easing some of its sanctions on Tehran linked to its nuclear program.
