United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio oversaw the signing of a pledge to work towards a peace deal between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. The deal will ease US access to critical minerals in eastern DRC.

Rubio stated that "a durable peace will open the door for greater U.S. and broader Western investment, which will bring about economic opportunities and prosperity," adding that it will "advance President Trump’s prosperity agenda for the world.”
