The now-ousted South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's ruling People Power Party said it accepts the Constitutional Court's decision to uphold Yoon's impeachment, according to the BBC.

Meanwhile, the opposition Democratic Party said that today's ruling marked a great victory for the people, Yonhap reported. Yoon's attorney, however, said that he doesn't understand the verdict. "The whole process of this trial itself was not lawful and unfair," said Yoon Gap-geun, the ousted president's attorney.

"And the result is something that we completely don't understand from the perspective of law," he stressed. "I feel regrettable that this completely is a political decision," he added.
