Musk predicts 20-30% vehicle growth next year
Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk said on the company's earnings call that he expects 20% to 30% vehicle growth and the Cybercab "reaching volume production" next year.
The company aims to reach "two million units a year of Cybercab," Musk stated, adding that the robotaxi will be built in more than one factory. He went on to say that Tesla has been testing a robotaxi service in the San Francisco Bay Area for its employees, who have been able to call for an autonomously operated Tesla vehicle using the company's ride-hailing app. The vehicles do have a safety driver sitting behind the wheel, in case human intervention is required.
Regarding more affordable electric vehicles (EVs), Tesla executives said the company aims to launch them in the first half of next year, with Musk jumping in to add that, with incentives, that EV would be "sub-$30,000, which is kind of a key threshold."
