US opens lower as recession worries continue
Major stock market indexes in the United States opened lower on Thursday as concerns that the nation's economy will go into a recession kept on affecting investors' confidence. Meanwhile, the country also observed a weekly rise in initial jobless claims.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 0.55% or 183 points at the opening as Intel Corporation went down by 2.55%. The Nasdaq 100 decreased by 1.11%, with Lam Research Corporation plunging by 4.81%. The S&P 500 dropped by 0.74% as CarMax Inc. plummeted by 10.04%.
The euro lost 0.14% to the dollar at 9:30 am ET to sell for $1.05963.
