European markets sink as inflation concerns rise

Major European stock markets recorded significant losses at Monday's closing bell as negative sentiment fueled by inflation-related concerns prevailed among investors.

While the European Union and the United Kingdom renewed tensions related to the Northern Ireland Protocol, markets prepared for the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision coming this Wednesday.

The DAX lost 2.43% or 334 points at the close, with Delivery Hero plummeting 12.47%. The FTSE 100 fell by 1.53% or 111 points and the CAC 40 declined 2.67% or 164 points. The euro plunged 0.91% against the dollar to sell for 1.04259 at 5:33 pm CET, while the pound tumbled 1.35% to $1.21549.
