The death toll from Friday's 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar has increased to 2,719 people, according to local media reports published on Tuesday. About 300 persons are missing and at least 4,521 have been injured.
"Among the missing, most are assumed to be dead," Gen. Min Aung Hlaing said on state television. "There is a narrow chance for them to remain alive as it has been over 72 hours."
Further, at least 17 people were killed when the earthquake struck neighboring Thailand.
