Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday that breakthroughs shouldn't be expected during United States Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff's visit to Russia.

As Moscow and Washington "continue to work meticulously" to normalize relations with each other and continue to "communicate their positions to each other," Witkoff's visit shouldn't be seen as "momentous," Peskov remarked.

He added that the US official is yet to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin today, with the two to discuss the potential peace deal in Ukraine. They also might talk about Putin's meeting with his US counterpart Donald Trump.
