Founded in 1883 as R. Goodwin & Sons Engineers, the Company was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1958. Mechanical engineering is represented by Goodwin Steel Castings Ltd. for castings, Goodwin International Ltd. for machining, general engineering, valves and pumps and Easat Antennas Ltd. for radar antennas. Refractory engineering is represented by Goodwin Refractory Services Ltd. for powders, Dupré Minerals Ltd. for refractory cements and minerals and Hoben International Ltd. for mineral processing. The Company remains under family management and control with over 51% of the voting shares still in the hands of the Goodwin family.
