Fire breaks out at Baltimore-Washington airport
A large blaze erupted at Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI), triggering a power failure that resulted in more than 50 flights being canceled and 150 experiencing delays, local media reported on Monday.
The fire, which originated in an equipment room, caused smoke to spread across sections of the terminal, prompting an immediate evacuation. According to BWI authorities, the fire was successfully controlled through joint efforts of airport firefighters and the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. No injuries were reported.
Officials are examining the fire's source, with preliminary findings indicating an electrical malfunction in the equipment room. Power service has been restored to most areas.
