Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said on Monday that his country condemns the United States' attack in the Saada region in Yemen, calling the strike a "war crime."

Baghaei said in a statement that the "continued US military attacks on civilian targets, vital infrastructure, and people's homes in various parts of Yemen, which have killed hundreds of innocent people," constitute a "war crime." He also criticized "the silence and indifference of the United Nations and human rights institutions towards this blatant violation of the law and repeated violations of Yemen's sovereignty and territorial integrity."

Yemen's Houthi militant group claimed earlier that the latest US strike hit a prison housing African migrants, which resulted in at least 68 people dying. The US also announced new sanctions against the Houthis, after which the rebel group reaffirmed its intention to target American aircraft carriers and other warships in the Red and Arabian Seas.
