Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney has called for an "immediate ceasefire" in Gaza as well as a "lasting two-state solution" during the Canadian party leaders' 2025 debate.
Carney said that Canada needs "to work with our international partners [to exert] maximum pressure, maximum encouragement for an immediate ceasefire [in Gaza], encourage the return of all hostages [and the] resumption of humanitarian aid."
Additionally, Carney expressed his support for a two-state solution, underscoring that there has to be "a viable and free Palestinian state living side by side in peace and security with the state of Israel."
