Antofagasta plc is a Chile-based copper mining group with significant by-product production and interests in transportation. Mining is the Group’s core business. The Group operates four copper mines located in Chile, two of which also produce significant by-products. The Group has a significant portfolio of growth opportunities located predominantly in Chile and in the United States. Yearly its operations produced around 630.000 tonnes of copper in concentrate and copper cathode, 210.000 ounces of gold and 10.000 tonnes if molybdenum in concentrate. The transport division provides rail and road cargo services in northern Chile. The main business is the transport of copper cathodes, and increasingly concentrate and sulphuric acid, to and from mines in the Antofagasta Region. In June 2015 Antofagasta plc announced the completion of the sale of the water division, Aguas de Antofagasta S.A.to Empresas Públicas de Medellín. Antofagasta plc is headquartered in London, UK.
