Wall Street moves deeper into red, Dow drops 800 pts
Major stock indexes in the United States extended losses during the trading session on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeting by 800 points. The index was dragged down by a nearly 7% drop of UnitedHealth Group, triggered by reports that the Department of Justice launched an investigation into its Medicare billing practices.
The Dow Jones tumbled 1.82% or 801 points at 2:34 pm ET. Simultaneously, the Nasdaq 100 plunged 1.95%, and the S&P 500 dropped 1.66%.
The euro traded 0.37% lower against the dollar at 2:34 pm ET, selling for $1.04645.
