Wang: China-Russia ties move towards 'higher, wider' level
China and Russia's strategic partnership is advancing to a "higher level and a wider dimension," Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated during a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on Thursday in Johannesburg.
According to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang emphasized that China and Russia’s collaboration remains strong, playing a key role in maintaining stability and promoting multipolarity. He underscored their commitment to implementing the consensus reached by their leaders and advancing joint initiatives in the new year. Lavrov reaffirmed Russia's willingness to strengthen ties across economic, financial, and geopolitical sectors, highlighting both nations' shared stance on global governance.
The two ministers also discussed the Ukraine crisis, with Lavrov expressing appreciation for China's diplomatic efforts. Both sides pledged to continue coordinating on international issues, including the situation in the Middle East.
