European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen dismissed on Tuesday claims that Europe is falling behind the US and China in artificial intelligence.

Speaking at the AI Summit 2025 in Paris, Von der Leyen insisted that the AI race is far from over, emphasizing that the true challenge lies not in early breakthroughs but in large-scale adoption.

"I disagree because the AI race is far from being over; we are only at the beginning; the frontier is constantly moving," she said while highlighting AI's potential to enhance security, expand knowledge access, and strengthen democracy.
