The United States has objected to using the term "Russian aggression" and similar phrases in an upcoming Group of Seven (G7) statement to commemorate the third anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war, the Financial Times reported on Thursday. The G7 has labeled Russia as the aggressor since the start of the war in February 2022.

The Trump administration seemed to shift away from supporting Ukraine this week, holding a bilateral meeting with Russian officials and criticizing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. "The Americans are blocking that language, but we are still working on it and hopeful of an agreement," an unnamed official briefed on the matter said for the report.
