UK urges Israel to allow UNRWA to continue work
The United Kingdom urged Israel not to interfere with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), following a recent legislative move in Israel's parliament.
Britain's Ambassador to the United Nations, Barbara Woodward, voiced concern, stressing the need to ensure UNRWA can continue providing critical aid to Palestinian refugees.
The proposed bill seeks to cut off all ties between the Israeli government and UNRWA, including banning the agency's operations within Israeli territories. The measure was approved by an Israeli parliamentary committee earlier this month but still requires final approval by the Knesset to become law.
