United States President Donald Trump took to social media to criticize Republican Senators Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Rand Paul for opposing his proposal to impose tariffs on Canada over fentanyl trafficking.

"They are playing with the lives of the American people, and right into the hands of the Radical Left Democrats and Drug Cartels. The Senate Bill is just a ploy of the Dems to show and expose the weakness of certain Republicans," he said on Truth Social.

Previously, Collins called the tariff idea "a huge mistake." At the same time, Paul co-sponsored a resolution with Democratic Senator Tim Kaine to end the national emergency that allowed the tariff.
