United States President-elect Donald Trump nominated Michael Anton for the position of director of policy planning at the State Department.

Anton served on the National Security Council during Trump's first term. In the Truth Social post announcing the nomination, Trump mentioned Anton's "extensive background in Government, the private sector and academia."

"He spent the last eight years explaining what an America First foreign policy truly means," Trump added.
