Former United States President Donald Trump claimed on Tuesday that Tesla Inc. and SpaceX Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and X Corp. Chairman Elon Musk endorsed him "at a level you wouldn't believe."

Speaking at a rally in Savannah, Georgia, Musk described Musk as a "great day" and Tesla's electric vehicles (EVs) as "phenomenal" but insisted that American buyers should have the option to choose what kind of car they want to drive. He also promised to suspend President Joe Biden's electric mandate, which seeks to have two-thirds of vehicles sold in the US be electric in eight years.

Still, Trump stressed the need to "double our electric capacity" as that is needed to "compete with China."
