Trump: Gaetz didn't want to be distraction for my admin
United States President-elect Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Thursday to thank Florida Representative Matt Gaetz for his service following his announcement that he would withdraw from being considered for the role of attorney general in the incoming administration.
"I greatly appreciate the recent efforts of Matt Gaetz in seeking approval to be Attorney General. He was doing very well but, at the same time, did not want to be a distraction for the Administration, for which he has much respect. Matt has a wonderful future, and I look forward to watching all of the great things he will do!" Trump wrote.
In mid-November, Trump had put forward Gaetz's nomination for the position of attorney general despite being under investigation concerning accusations of sexual misconduct.
