Afghanistan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi stated on Wednesday that Kabul hopes that United States President-elect Donald Trump will be prepared to adopt a "pragmatic approach" to advance the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Doha Agreement signed between the US and the Taliban during Trump's first term in office helped pave the way to the end of "the twenty-year occupation," Balkhi wrote on X (formerly Twitter). At the same time, he expressed hope that Trump "will assume a constructive role" in bringing the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon to an end.
