SoftBank Group Corp. has been reaching out to banks with the idea of borrowing $10 billion for energy-related projects that would catapult it into the artificial intelligence race, The Information reported on Thursday citing sources familiar with the topic.

According to one of the sources, Softbank has also been looking to get its hands on a substantial number of Nvidia Corporation's graphics processing units that are crucial for developing artificial intelligence.
