US closes higher after business activity data
Major United States stock markets closed higher on Friday after November's business activity index reached its highest point in 31 months. Investors were also buoyed by hopes for lower interest rates and more business-friendly policies from President-elect Donald Trump's administration next year, all while assessing geopolitical havoc.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped by 0.97% or 426 points as Boeing Company increased by 4.10%. The Nasdaq 100 rose by 0.17% and the S&P 500 went up by 0.35% as Super Micro Computer Inc. skyrocketed by 11.62%.
The dollar worsened by 0.61% against the dollar at 3:59 pm ET to sell for $1.04151.
