United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Sunday that Belarus unilaterally released US citizen Anastassia Nuhfer. He added Nuhfer was detained in Belarus during the Biden administration.

Rubio credited the release to US President Donald Trump's leadership and Christopher Smith, the State Department's deputy assistant secretary for Eastern Europe.
