Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is shown to hold a lead over Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in North Carolina, a new poll by Emerson College Polling/RealClearPennsylvania showed on Thursday.

Taking into account the preferences of undecided voters, the poll indicates that 51% would back Trump, while Harris would secure 49% of the votes. "There is a significant age divide among voters: voters under 50 favor Harris, 57% to 39%, while voters over 50 break for Trump, 57% to 41%," Emerson College Polling Executive Director Spencer Kimball said.

North Carolina is considered one of the key swing states that will determine the outcome of the November elections. In 2020, Trump secured a narrow victory, winning the majority of votes in the state.
