Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Hungarian colleague Peter Szijjarto agreed to continue dialogue on resolving the conflict in Ukraine during a telephone conversation on Thursday, Russia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The Russian side confirmed the vision of a realistic path to ending the conflict, outlined in the speech of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on June 14. The ministers agreed to continue a close, trusting dialogue on various aspects of the Ukrainian crisis, taking into account the assessments and ideas expressed by various states," the statement read.

On Wednesday Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin and offered to mediate a temporary truce between Moscow and Kiev. Orban later said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected his proposal.
