French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou survived on Monday the third no-confidence motion filed by the opposition amid his efforts to pass the 2025 budget. Bayrou resorted to using Article 49.3, which allows him to force through legislation without a vote in the parliament, opening himself up to confidence votes.

The motion received 115 votes out of 289 needed to topple Bayrou. It was put forward by La France Insoumise but failed to gain support from other major opposition parties, including the Socialists and the National Rally. The Socialists announced they will be initiating their own no-confidence vote on February 19 as a sign of protest against government policy.
