Israeli officials told the United States that they would put in the effort to alleviate the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip after the latter threatened to potentially halt military aid to the country, Axios reported on Wednesday citing Israeli sources.

According to the sources, while the Israeli government wasn't fond of Washington's ultimatum, it acknowledged that the situation in the area worsened and isn't up to par with the country's official policy on sustaining humanitarian aid.

Meanwhile, senior US officials explained that the response was not envisioned as a pretext to withholding armaments but more of an effort to push the Israeli government in the right direction.
