Iran may change nuclear doctrine over 'existential' threats
Head of Iranian Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharrazi told Al Mayadeen in an interview posted on Friday that Tehran might consider altering its nuclear doctrine, especially if it faces an "existential threat."
Speaking about the situation with Israel, Kharrazi noted that while Iran has no desire to expand the war in the region, it is "fully prepared" for it. He detailed that while the country would have no problems in creating nuclear weapons since it has all the necessary technical capabilities, the Fatwa (religious ruling) issued by Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is the only thing preventing it from doing so.
Kharrazi went on to say that if Western countries continue to ignore Iran's concerns when it comes to the country's sovereignty, Tehran will probably further boost its missile ranges.
